Moving MountainsThe reality that we live in is created by a lifetime of experiences.  All of the events in our life are stored in our unconscious mind.  Repetitive behaviors come from the people we grew up around and also significant emotional events.  Through observing the behaviors of our parent, family members and authority figures, we unconsciously, and sometimes consciously adopt beliefs about our self and the world.  When we experience a significant emotional event, good or bad, we develop beliefs about how to respond to external triggers.  These concepts about the nature of the world mold our life experience.  Other sources of thought patterns include advertising, the media, friends, coworkers, etc.  We are bombarded daily with influential concepts.  Consider the source and the agenda of these concepts.  Over a lifetime, we gather a mountain of beliefs and thought patterns.  These patterns create strong neural pathways that run like a computer program in our mind telling us below consciousness how to respond to situations.  When we respond unconsciously to circumstances in a certain way over and over, we perpetuate those circumstances and feel as though we are not in control of our life.

It is common and very easy to fall into a state of being characterized by feeling out of control of our circumstances.  In reality, we are lacking control of our mind and this is where the helpless feeling originates.  The good news is, we can take control of our minds; we can move the mountains in our mind!

The first step toward moving your mountains is to take notice of your thoughts.  This takes courage and honesty with yourself.  As you begin to pay attention to your thoughts, ask yourself where these thoughts seem to originate.  Many times we can hear in our own mind the voice of a parent or other authority figure speaking phrases such as, “Be careful!”, “There must be a catch to this!”, or “Don’t put your whole heart into it, you’ll just be disappointed.”  When you take notice of these kinds of thoughts, they are moving from your unconscious mind into your conscious mind.  When a thought moves from your unconscious mind to your conscious mind, the neural pathway associated with that thought reaches a state known as neural plasticity.  In simple terms this means that becoming conscious of your thoughts gives you the power to change your behavior patterns and your life experience.   As you do this more and more, you will begin to notice a sense of being in control of your life.

Awaken Your Consciousness!

 

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and your discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” ~ Patanjali

Awakening consciousness can result from meditation, prayer, journal writing or simple time spent quietly alone.  It is easy to take notice of the thoughts that are running through your head when you are alone, still and quiet.  Writing your thoughts in a journal is a very effective tool for bringing thoughts to consciousness.  Regardless of which method you choose, becoming conscious of your thoughts allows you to begin to change them.

The next step is to begin thinking of changes you would like to make in your life.  Become aware of what keeps you from making the change.  Our tendency is to cite external circumstances that limit us.  It is alright to be aware of the circumstances; don’t stop there.  Explore your thoughts surrounding the area that you have chosen to change.  Remember- your thoughts are what create your experience.  Your circumstances are the results of your thoughts.  You are in control.  Take responsibility for your life now.  Become aware of those thoughts and decide to change the ones that are creating the experience you would like to change.  Then meditate on what you would like your experience to be in the area that you have chosen.  Take the time to fully describe your desired experience.  Write your description in detail and keep this description with you.  Read over your description frequently and keep it in your conscious mind.  Repetition of a thought will move it from your conscious to your unconscious mind.  Once this thought gets into your unconscious mind, you will begin to notice the change you desire occurring automatically without any conscious effort on your part.

We have the power to change anything in our lives.  This power sleeps in our mind.  Become aware of your thoughts; become conscious, and you will begin to take control of your life experience.  Your circumstances may appear as mountains, but remember, the mountain is in your mind.  When you become conscious of your thoughts you will begin to move mountains.

Can you imagine being a super student?  What would it feel like if you could start acing your tests?  If you know how; if you know your internal processes – you can master the skill of learning immediately!

We each have internal processes or strategies for doing anything we do.  These are processes that go on inside of us that we usually are not consciously aware of.  Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) looks out how people do what they do.  We each have internal representational systems that we use to process our external stimuli. The top three representational systems that we use are: visual, auditory and kinesthetic (feeling).  Most people will have a primary representational system that they use when interpreting their world.  When you think of how you do something that you do well, do you see yourself doing it?  Do you hear the sounds?  Do you feel the process or have emotions?  You might do a combination of all three, but there is usually a primary modality.  It might also be different for different things that you do.

The key to being a great learner is to use your primary representational system to learn.  Let’s say your primary representational system is visual.  If you are taking a history class, you can see the events you are learning about as though they were on a movie screen.  Visualize the events clearly and make the images bright and vivid.  If your primary representational system is auditory, you can listen to the events and hear them as they happen.  Hear the people’s words as they speak.  Make the sound full and clear.  Hear the events as they happen.  Listen to the sounds in you mind.  If you are a kinesthetic person, feel the events.  You might even feel yourself living the events you are learning about.  Feel the emotions as the events unfurl.

A great example of how to use this technique is a strategy for spelling.  The primary modality used by the greatest spellers is visual.  This is because we can see the letters but often the sound of a word does not clearly indicate how it is spelled.  Let’s take the word “Econlockhatchee”.  First break it down into chunks.  The first part of the word is “Econ”, then “lock”  then “hat” then “chee”.  Write each part of the word on an index card and hold it up and to the left of your eyes.  Look at each part several times until you can spell each part.  Then put them all together to spell the word.  Now that you have done this with Econlockhatchee, you will be able to spell this word perfectly forever!

These kinds of strategies are very effective and can be used for anything that anyone does well.  We have strategies for everything we do in life, including learning.  When you explore your strategy for learning and use the internal representation that works the best for you, you will be master at learning!

Generally speaking, you know what foods are better for you and which foods are not so great for you.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could automatically choose the right natural foods to eat.  There is so much advertising out there influencing us on an unconscious level it is easy to see why we are drawn to processed junk foods.  We know that these foods are not the healthiest, but somehow we find it hard to avoid them.  Why?  Advertisers have Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) experts on staff.  These NLP experts know how to influence you on an unconscious level and program you to want the foods they are selling.  A recent test conducted by Yale University showed that children ate 45% more food when exposed to food advertising while watching cartoons.  According to the U.S. Surgeon General, obesity is the fastest growing cause of disease and death in America.

How would you like to use NLP to reprogram yourself to eat healthy natural foods?  Great!  I’ve created a short NLP script for you to use to program yourself to begin eating fresh, healthy, organic foods.  After all, be honest, doesn’t a fresh, juicy orange sound good right now?  Or what about some fresh steamed vegetables, like crispy corn on the cob or tasty green beans and delicious carrots?  Mmm…

Read the following passage when you wake up in the morning and just before bed and you will begin to see a transformation of your eating habits.

You now begin to notice that you are living a more lean and healthy lifestyle. Maybe you will decide to eat leaner foods.  You might notice that you now are guided to the best choices of food and drink. You drink only water and are always prepared with plenty of water and lean healthy foods. You can now choose to eat healthier and make sure that you are always prepared with the proper foods to eat. When you go grocery shopping, it feels good to choose only natural foods that will make you become very lean and healthy. Notice how good it feels to you when you choose only foods that build a lean body.

You now avoid processed junk food like. In fact notice that these foods give you a nauseating feeling when you see them. You think of the disgusting globs of fat poured over the top of them. See now in your mind’s eye slimy greasy body fat being poured over the top of foods that are unhealthy. Pour nauseating globs of fat over the top of those foods.  You know which foods they are.  Know that these foods have this disgusting fat blended and cooked right into them. You know that they are processed they are linked to disease and death.

Mmm! Mmm!

Good… Now … Visualize the bounty of fresh fruit and vegetables that is offered. See lean organic chicken, turkey and fish in front of you. These foods are now more delicious to you than ever before. Taste those foods now. The fruit is fresh and sweet and succulent. The fresh fruit and vegetables are bright and colorful.  See them now: beautiful green, red, yellow, orange…  The chicken, turkey and fish are grilled to perfection and they are absolutely delicious. This is the kind of food you choose from this moment forward. This food makes you feel light and refreshed. It gives you a sense of peace, power and strength. You are pure, clean and healthy and this food is melting the fat right off of your body. When you see these kinds of healthy food, you will see yourself looking and feeling amazing! Just thinking about this kind of food makes you feel wonderful. You now choose to eat only lean and healthy natural foods!

There is no need to make any effort to know which foods to eat; you will be able to automatically make the right choices. You have made the conscious decision to become healthier and eat natural foods; you’re reading these words, you are programming your unconscious mind, the most powerful part of your mind: the learning and growing part of your mind, the part of your mind that always knows whether the foods you are eating will make you unhealthy or whether you will now eat only healthy, fresh, natural foods.

And when you learn how to eat clean and healthy, you feel a sense of confidence. You feel proud of yourself. You are free and flexible. You feel good about the way you look and feel. You feel vibrantly healthy and now have a sense of well-being.  It is so easy for you to choose to eat healthy natural foods now; now that you are allowing your unconscious mind to make all the necessary changes in your behavior.  You have the power of NLP, Hypnosis and your unconscious mind and now you use your intent to create this experience in your life immediately.

Expect A Miracle!

I recently interviewed best-selling new age author, Richard Webster on my radio talk show “The Awakening World”  (www.awakeningworld.org).  He told me about a friend’s daughter who had been diagnosed with a serious illness.  Richard said that the lady had an absolute determination that she was going to beat this illness and would be healed from it.  This was completely contrary to what her doctors and conventional science told her.  They told her, and truly believed that she could not heal from this.

When Richard saw her a few months later, she revealed to him that she had in fact experienced a true miracle: complete healing!

In this great adventure called “Life,” we are creators of all of our experiences.  We create with our free will.  We choose what we intend to experience in every moment.  For the most part, this choosing is done unconsciously…until…we CHOOSE to bring consciousness into every moment and experience.

It is clearly evident on an experiential level that we truly have control over our thoughts- instantly.  The thoughts we think create our experience in any given moment.  What thought are you choosing right now?  If you truly want to have a new experience, choose it by first thinking it.  Choose to experience a miracle in your life!

How?  Speak the words of your new chosen experience to yourself:  “I am now choosing to experience [your intended experience].”  The more you repeat this statement, the more powerful it will be.  You are creating a “magnetic” thought that will attract your desired experience to you.

Create your own statements that are individualized for you own life and experience.  Here are a few examples that have been very powerful in my life and have created very quick manifestations:  I am now choosing to think only positive thoughts!  I am now choosing to feel only good emotions!  I am now choosing to experience confidence in all that I do!  I am now choosing to experience my own personal financial prosperity and abundance in my life!  I am now choosing to experience success in all that I do!  I am choosing to experience a miracle in my life this day!

As individualized expressions of God, we have infinite creative power!  This power is ours to be called upon and experienced.  The more we realize this in our own life, the more we come to know the true meaning and purpose of life: to remember who we truly are; to reconnect with our divine source and allow that source to experience everything this existence has to offer.  Do not deny God any longer!  Choose to have the experiences that God desires through your life!

Always listen to the voice within and allow yourself to be guided by your source.  If you hear the still small voice telling you to try something, TRY IT!  As you work toward your desired outcome, you might just find that there is something even more inspiring that you might have never come across if you had not taken the original leap of faith.

 

A couple of years ago I took a leap of faith, left my corporate career and started on a path of singing and songwriting.  I pursued it for many months only to realize that music in itself was not at the heart of my passion.  The true purpose behind playing music was to connect with and inspire people.  I wanted to be of service to others as a spiritual guide.

 

It is important when you connect with your source and ask what your life purpose is, that you understand what is at the heart of your desired outcomes.  Though my original plan was to play music, I allowed myself to be guided.  I was inspired to receive training in neuro-linguistic programming and life coaching.  I am so passionate about what I do now and I feel that I am truly living the life of my dreams.

 

When you really allow your life to be guided by your source of creation, life can take you places you might have never anticipated.  What feeling do you have in the area around your heart as you proceed on your path?  It will tell you when you are a little off.  It will also tell you when you are right on track.  The more you stay on track, the more purposeful your life will feel.  Remain flexible and be alert to signs and messages and above all, listen to your inner voice and let your inspiration guide you!

The Awakening World Project

Blessings to you! It has been a couple of weeks since my last posting. I have been focusing on the creation of a new podcast with the same title as this blog.

The Awakening World Project was created as a means to spread inspiration and empowerment worldwide. An awakening occurs when we make a journey within and follow the return path to our one true source. The kingdom of Heaven lives inside each of us. When we awaken and reconnect with our source of creation, we live life abundantly and experience Heaven on earth.

We were each created with an amazing power to heal our self physically, mentally and emotionally. This healing begins when we forgive our self and others and accept all life as perfection.

The concept of the show is to interview spiritual leaders, authors, holistic healers and others who are leading this awakening. The vision is to produce a video podcast that could turn into a television broadcast as resources become available.

Conceive, Believe, Receive!

How do we create our “dream life”  filled with passion, purpose and meaning?

There are three steps: Conceive, Believe, and Receive! 

To begin our process, let’s explore some evidence for us Westerners who want scientific proof before jumping in with both feet.  For those who are daring enough to take a leap of faith, stay with me, you’ll be glad you did!

Scientists, quantum physicists, metaphysicians, and spiritual leaders agree that the universe is essentially vibrational in nature.  The tiny parts that make up atoms have been theorized by quantum physicists to be more accurately described as waves rather than actual particles.  The frequency of those waves will account for the nature of the atoms and what kind of substance is perceived.  Vibrations are perceived as sound, light, physical matter, etc depending on the rate of vibration.

Brain researchers have classified brain waves into different categories: Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta and Gamma.  The categories are separated by frequency of the brain wave.  The highest brain wave frequencies we experience, according to researchers, are Gamma brainwaves.  The Gamma range accounts for imagination and creativity.

Maybe you’ve heard the phrase “thoughts become things.”  Everything that we perceive first started as a thought conceptualized in someone’s mind.  The most beautiful things in the world were originally conceived in ”the mind of God.”  The huge Oak tree began as a tiny seed.  You and I started out as microscopic cells.

Try this now:  Think about a tiger.  Clearly visualize the tiger now.  See it; hear it; smell it; even touch it and feel its fur.  In the coming days, pay attention and notice what you draw into your experience.

 

 

 

Good!

Now, Give yourself the time to complete step one in manifesting our dream life: “Conceive!”

Allow yourself to generate some gamma brain waves now and imagine your dream life.  What would you like to do, have, and be?  Invest the time now to create three lists, each one on a separate sheet of paper.

  1. Thirty Things I Want to Do
  2. Thirty Things I Want to Have
  3. Thirty Things I Want to Be

When you create your lists, you are exercising your imagination and conceptualizing.  The more clearly you imagine the items on your lists, the more power they will be infused with.  The power of manifestation comes from strong emotion and clear visualization.  Allow yourself to be filled with emotion while envisioning your dreams.  Dream big!  Know that you can have anything that you want and there are no limitations! What do you want?  For now, do not concern yourself with “How” it will come into being, just allow your mind to be free and imagine.

Keep your lists in a safe place.  You will come to see that they are filled with an amazing power in the days, weeks, and months ahead when you awaken in the dream life that you are now conceiving!

Is the world we perceive real?

Everything that exists in our world only has the meaning we give it.  The meaning we give things comes from the past.  For example; when you look at a coffee table, you might begin to think of coffee tables you’ve seen in the past.  Maybe you think of where they are typically found in a room; in front of a couch or chair.  You might remember putting your feet on a coffee table in the past.  You remember things being placed on a coffee table.  All of these thoughts are memories from the past.

The past is an illusion, it is only a thought.  It is a dream.  Everything in life has meaning only because we give it meaning and these meanings are derived from the past, either our own or the collective past of society.

We, in essence, are living in a dream that we project.  The things we perceive have no meaning until we project our dream (or thoughts from the past) onto them.  It is in this way that we create our own reality.

So when we speak of “living the dream” we are usually referring to creating our dream life.  The fact is, we are all living the dream right now.  The question we must ask ourselves is “Do I love or even like this dream?”  If not, then make the choice to awaken now!

Then create a new dream filled with passion, purpose and meaning!

After talking with a friend of mine about blogging (I wasn’t even sure what it was at first) it sounded like a great idea.

This blog will cover the topics of spirituality, philosophy, neuro-linguistic programming, life coaching and more.

I draw my insights from authors such as Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle, Don Miguel Ruiz, Louise Hay and many others.  Other spiritual texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, and Tao Te Ching have been shaping forces in my life.
